Can you give a general description of the SFSU Cinema Department?

The SFSU Cinema Department prides itself on offering a diverse program that represents many viewpoints and different styles of filmmaking, including independent, experimental, and documentary, rahter than just the Hollywood model. The Cinema Department is also committed to a program of film studies and production as a common enterprise. For this reason, it offers Introductory and 300-level courses in both studies and production that are necessary prerequisites to advanced work in the major. Writing skills are an important component of many of these courses. Students who wish to enroll lin advanced (400-level and above) courses must first complete the appropriate Prerequisite Core and Foundation Courses.
