What is the Graduate Student Conference that the MA Students organize?

The Conference is an annual event. Entering MA students have a chance to participate and at least attend the conference which is organized by the second year MA students. They plan the event in the spring term of their first year and then hold the event in the fall term of their second year. It is on a wide-ranging topic (sexuality and cinema, space, foreign bodies, borders, etc.). Graduate students from across the United States, and abroad, are invited to attend based on proposals. A keynote speaker is usually chosen by the MA organizers as well. The event is typically two days and affords an opportunity to organize an academic conference, present a paper, and meet fellow grad students from other programs. Students receive course credit for their work organizing the event.
