Michael Lumpkin really means it this time.
On the other hand, the executive director of Frameline meant it in 1991 when he announced his departure for the hurly-burly of actual film production, instead of "just" overseeing the oldest gay film festival in the nation. But back then, circumstances conspired to bring him back four years later.
