A Jan. 25 Nichi Bei Times article featured Assistant Professor of Cinema Aaron Kerner, co-curator of "Katsushige Nakahashi: The Depth of Memory," an exhibition of 15,000 model war plane photos, assembled by more than 150 volunteers to recreate a Japanese Zero fighter plane.

Graduate students are invited to submit works that interact with issues of cinema in the digital age. We also invite submissions from student filmmakers whose work engages issues of digital cinema and technology. These films will be screened together as part of a special panel, accompanied by discussion with the filmmakers themselves.

Deadline for submitting abstracts and films is September 15th, 2007.

Congratulations to SF State Cinema alumnus Charles Yi for winning Stranglehold's John Woo's short film contest. Woo, the acclaimed director, hand-picked Yi's film "Return" among thousands of entries. Yi won $25,000, met Woo, and was featured (along with "Return") on SpikeTV on Aug. 18.
